On May 12, 2010 National Inuit Leader Mary Simon, President of Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami came to visit the children here at the Ottawa Inuit Children's Centre. The children quickly took to Mary's easy going and approachable personality. She spent several hours with children from both the Sivummut Head Start and Tumiralaat Child Care Centre. During her visit Mary took part in circle time with the children, singing and acting out some Inuktitut songs. The most memorable moments were without a doubt when Mary shared her passion for the accordion. The children danced as Mary played song after song. Everyone had such a great time and we thank Mary on behalf of all the children and staff for such a special time that won't soon be forgotten. We look forward to seeing Mary again and hope she brings her accordion once more. Below are images that we hope will allow you to share in our special day.
