Head Start's Philosophy

Our beliefs will help us to complete our mission:

We believe in respect for self, others and the environment.

We believe in the values of Inuit culture.

We believe in promoting and living healthy lifestyles.

We believe that a loving, supportive, caring, accepting and safe environment for children, parents and staff is the best learning environment.

We believe that we should support each other with kindness and praise.

We believe that learning is fun.

We believe that Inuit children have a right to learn the Inuktitut language.

We believe in a stimulating environment that fosters curiosity and creativity.

We believe that families should be actively involved in the program.

We believe in creating an environment that is non-biased, equal for all, and non-judgmental.

We believe that Inuit children and families should be proud of their heritage and who they are.

We believe that Inuit children should develop a sense of identity as an Inuk.

We believe that children learn through play.

We believe that parents and staff should work together.

We believe in cooperation rather than competition.

We believe that the program should be rooted in Inuit culture.
