Attendance
  1. It is expected that parents and children participate in the program on a long-term basis to receive full benefit and learning.
  2. It is important to inform the Family & Community Development Coordinator or Executive Director if your child will be absent for any reason. Extended absents from the program is understandable for vacation, illness, travel and emergency situations.
  3. It is the parents’ responsibility to call DNT Transportation (744-4254) if their child will be absent. If there is a change of address the Family and Community Development Coordinator must approve the transportation availability for the new address and then the parent is responsible for calling DNT to make the arrangements.
  4. In situations of low attendance, where no explanation has been provided, a staff member will meet with the family to discuss support and how attendance can be improved.
  5. In the situation where a child is not able to attend Head Start, we are able to hold a spot for that child for two weeks.  After the two week period is up the spot maybe given to a child on the waiting list.
  6. Head Start will work with families to ensure that children can attend both Kindergarten and Head Start when ever possible.
