Youth Steering Committee YSB

The Youth Steering Committee is a group of dedicated Inuit Youth between the ages of 12-18 who meet at least once a month to provide input into the Ottawa Inuit Children’s Centre’s programming for 6-12 year olds.

When the Youth Steering Committee meets a healthy meal is provided. Recently the Youth Steering Committee has been working on Comic Books with a particular focus on: 1) using comics for education and communications and; 2) using comic books for community development, positive social change and personal empowerment.

The workshops are based on the premise that art and storytelling can help communities develop through the exchange of personal experiences. The expression of these experiences help to raise social awareness around issues affecting Urban Inuit Youth.
